PERCUSSION AND MARIMBA ENSEMBLE SYLLABUS. FALL 08.
EXPECTATIONS: This ensemble is designed to explore the
percussion
and marimba ensemble literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Everyone
must come to rehearsals fully prepared. By this I mean: Music
learned,
pages prepared, proper mallets and sticks on hand, and the
correct instrumentation and instrument set up for those
works being rehearsed. All of these preparations need to be done
on each individual's own time, NOT THE ENSEMBLE'S TIME. Please do
not
learn notes, rhythms, or routines during rehearsal. You will need
to bring a dark hand towel to every rehearsal for use on a music
stand as a tray table.
CONCERTS: October 6th , 8pm. Loudis Recital
Hall.
December 9, 8pm, Loudis Recital Hall.
DRESS REHEARSALS: October 6th, 6pm Loudis Recital
Hall. December 9, 6pm, Loudis Recital Hall.
CONCERT DRESS: Men, all black, pants, shirt, shoes,
sox.
Women, all black, pants or skirt, shoes and shirt or blouse.
GRADING POLICY:
You are expected to be at every scheduled rehearsal. You will
be allowed one missed rehearsal before your grade s reduced by one half
of a letter grade. You ae required to be at all concerts.
Missing
a concert will constitute a failure for the semester.
CONSENT STATEMENT, PLEASE READ:
"I understand that the Department of
Music ö Music Technology Systems employees or their designees,
routinely
record student ensemble rehearsals, concerts and student degree
recitals
for deposit in the University of Delaware, Department of Music
Archives.
Often, department faculty and students also record rehearsals
and performances for other educational purposes. Often department
personnel or their designees will photograph these rehearsals or
events.
By being a participant or
being registered
for this course and section, I hereby give my permission to the
University
of Delaware to use any audio or video recordings and/or any still
photographs taken of my performances for any purpose. I understand that
the decision to consider these recordings for any use will be left to
the
discretion of University of Delaware performance or ensemble faculty
members,
Music Technology, systems employees or other department
personnel.
The effective dates for the
recordings,
videotaping or photography sessions are the academic year beginning in
August 2006 and ending in May 2007. There is no exclusion date on
the use of the materials. This agreement covers all of the
participating
events and rehearsals I am involved with. The term "record" used
herein is meant to relate to any variety of audio and/or visual
capturing
or transcribing now known or yet to be devised."
