
Suzanne Burton, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Delaware where she specializes in music teacher preparation, general music, early childhood music, and is the coordinator of class piano. She also teaches graduate level courses and supervises theses and projects. To provide authentic teaching and learning contexts for University students, Dr. Burton teaches early childhood music at the University of Delaware Early Learning Center and general music at a local elementary school. She frequently conducts seminars on developmental and sequential music learning, musical creativity, and assessment.
Dr. Burton is on the Advisory Committee for the publication, Teaching Music (MENC), is a member of MENC: The National Conference for Music Education and the advisor for the award winning University of Delaware chapter of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference. She is a board member of the Delaware Music Educators Association, serves on the Visual and Performing Arts Advisory Board of the Delaware Department of Education, and is on the education board of the Gordon Institute of Music Learning. Dr. Burton holds degrees from Spring Arbor University and Michigan State University.
