Music Education Skills Exam: In addition to the performance criteria for Sophomore Review, Music Education majors must pass a Music Education Skills Exam. The exam consists of 3 subtests: tonal solfege, rhythm solfege, and piano skills. As a prerequisite to MUED 378 and MUED 379, each subtest must be passed with a grade no lower than C-. Students who fail any subtest of the exam will be placed on probation and must retake and pass that subtest the semester prior to the MUED 378 or MUED 379 methods course.
Praxis I: Music Education Majors must take and pass the Praxis I exam by the end
of the Sophomore year. Students will not be eligible to enroll in MUED
378 or MUED 379 without having passed the Praxis I exam.
Praxis II: Music Education Majors must take the Praxis II exam the semester
directly preceeding the student teaching semester. Students will not be
eligible to student teach until they have taken the Praxis II test.
