UD Marching Band Attends Championship game in Chattanooga

Halftime in Chattanooga
As expected with any playoff game, the Marching Band was given only 5 days to figure out how to get their 300 members to Chattanooga for the NCAA Division I Football Championship.
With the help of Athletics, two charter flights were secured, the hotel was reserved, buses to and from each airport were arranged and the itinerary was set. With two equipment trucks loaded and ready to drive, the band was ready to go.
Once they arrived, the tubas headed down to the pregame Pep Rally to entertain the fans by playing their serenades, help paint blue and gold faces on kids, and just have all around good tuba fun! Then the rest of the band headed down the street to the Pavilion for an experience the 2003 band did not have: a 30-minute Pep Rally! Fans were cheering and yelling and screaming and chanting “Go Blue Hens!” The atmosphere was electric!
At the game, the band played their heart out the whole first half and pulled off an amazing half time show despite that fact that they had not played together or run drill since before Thanksgiving. It was truly and incredible experience.
