Community Music School Children's Choir

The University of Delaware Children’s Choir, under the direction of Linda Wardell, is an exciting new choir of auditioned treble voiced singers in grades two through eight.

This Fall the group was 20 members strong and performed at Song Fest in October, an event sponsored by the UD student chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association. At Songfest, students from Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey met and spent the day singing together. At the conclusion of the event, they shared what they had learned by presenting a mini-concert for family and friends. The choir also held their “Welcome Yule” holiday concert December 15, 2007.

Join the choir this spring at some exciting concerts and events:

April 19, 2008 - Winterthur Museum, “K is for Kids” exhibition, with Honorary Ambassador, children’s author Jane Yolen, 1:00 p.m.

May 16, 2008 - Spring Concert “How Can I Keep from Singing” Amy E. duPont Music Building, Loudis Recital Hall, 7:00 pm

May 17, 2008 - Mini concert, Amy E. duPont Music Building atrium, 7:30 p.m.

The Choir’s mission is to provide children in the surrounding geographic area with the experience of artistic choral singing and performance of quality children’s choral literature. The group focuses on choral singing, tone production, and music reading and is looking to recruit new members for the 2008-2009 year in May.
