We are extremely honored to have been given permanent funding to continue our Graduate String Quartet. In their first year graduate students Stephanie McCullough, violin, Courtney Boyd, viola and Heather Hanson, cello, joined by talented undergraduate Anna Parks, violin performed at numerous University functions throughout the year from the Center for the Arts dedication to Alumni events to the Department of Music convocation this spring. In addition in the late spring and early summer the group represented the University and the Department at many locations around the state including area hospitals the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at the Christiana Hospital, the A. I. DuPont Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House. They also visited schools including Shue Medill Middle School and the Wilson Elementary School. Additional outreach included area attractions such as Winterthur and Rockwood Museum as well as area stores such as Bloom and Old Country Gardens.

This year we have three new graduate students Laura Scalzo, violin, Jin Ying, violin and Zoraida Oyola-Rebuza, cello joining our one returning graduate student, Courtney Boyd, viola and are excited about continued outreach to the state.
