Jennifer Barker

Jennifer Barker has had numerous performances of her many compositions this fall:

Blue Waters (for solo vibraphone) was performed by Principal Percussionist of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Heather Corbett at the "Sound" Festival in Scotland on November 11, 2006 and at Glasgow City Hall in Scotland on December 3, 2006. Geenyoch Ballant (for solo piano) was performed by Julie Nishimura at a concert of works by women composers in conjunction with 'Harmonies', an exhibition of works by women visual artists on November 11, 2006 and at the International Women's Club and Quest for Tech at the Wilmington Music School in Delaware December 9, 2006. It will also be performed at the Greenville Country Club's "An Afternoon Musicale with pianist Julie Nishimura", Sunday, February 25, 2007. Na Tri Peathraichean (for flute and piano) was performed by Pamela Youngblood at Texas Women's University, September 19, 2006. Nollaig (for children's chorus and symphony orchestra) was performed by the Fort Collins Symphony with MaestroWes Kenney, November 25 & 26, 2006. The World Premiere ofEffigies (for pipe organ) was performed by David Herman at the Temple Church, London, England, January 24, 2007.

In addition Jennifer’s lecture/presentation entitled “Music Videos - for Classical Music! (Who said only pop and country music can have fun?)”was presented at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, October 13, 2006; the University of Sussex, England, October 20, 2006; the Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland, November 2, 2006 and the University of Delaware, Gore Recital Hall, Tuesday November 14, 2006. She will also do a seven week tour to Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand presenting lectures at Hong Kong Baptist University, The Sydney Conservatorium at the University of Sydney, The National Institute of Education in Singapore and the University of Wollongong, among others,in February/March 2007. Finally, Jennifer Margaret Barker as the Winner of the 2006 Philadelphia Commissions Project will Premiere a new work to be performed by the Relâche ensemble at the Trinity Center for Urban Life, Philadelphia, PA, Saturday, April 21, 2007.
