John David Smith

Horn professor John David Smith has been busy performing off campus this semester. In New York, he joined the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for a concert with Sarah Chang, violin. He then toured with Emanuel Ax and Garrick Ohlsson, pianists and Orpheus as Principal Horn on its Fall California tour, performing in Napa, Berkeley, Santa Barbara and at the new Disney Hall in Los Angeles. In New York City, he played Assistant Principal Horn with the Metropolitan Opera in its productions of "Don Carlo" and "Die Meistersinger" On campus, Smith joined colleagues in the Master Chamber Series on December 1 in a performance of the Brahms Horn Trio. He has more performances scheduled with Orpheus, the Metropolitan Opera and the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra for the spring semester.
