Fifteen members of Delaware Steel, under the direction of Harvey Price, will travel to Israel to perform a series of concerts March 1-7, 2007. Delaware Steel has also been has been invited to perform at the Maryland/Delaware Day of Percussion on March 11, 2007.
Mallory Oxberry, student of Eileen Grycky, has been selected as a Dean's Scholar. This program allows gifted and focused undergraduate students to design their own curriculum in conjunction with faculty mentors. Mallory's goal after graduation is to enter a PhD program in Musicology. She will be mentored on her project by Eileen Grycky, Mike Arenson and Russell Murray.
Emily Paolini, student of Eileen Grycky, created a Latin American music resource entitled "Crossing Borders," this CD resource was created as a result of her Service Learning project and is now a part of her Undergraduate Research Project/senior thesis.
Natalia Magdalena Kieniewicz, student of Melanie Dement, was selected by audition as the winner of the $1000 AMPOL (American's of Polish decent) scholarship.
Four UDMB drumline members were in DCI Finalist corps: Chris Leone (Cavaliers), Chris Lennox (Phantom Regiment - top ranked percussion), Wayne Gibson (Bluecoats), Ed Brainard (Madison). The UDMB also has a drumline member, Dan Twiford, in the DCA (senior corps) World Champion Reading Buccaneers.
