Biography
​Laura Kerst coordinates more than 250 events each year in Loudis
Recital Hall, Bayard Sharp Hall and the Roselle Center for the Arts
(CFA), which houses Thompson Theatre, Studio Theatre, Gore Recital Hall
and Puglisi Orchestra Hall. Ms. Kerst works closely with faculty,
students and guest artists in the preparation and presentation of
student degree recitals, resident faculty ensemble and guest artist
concerts and special events held in these venues.
Ms. Kerst has
extensive experience in event management, focusing on coordinating
facilities and equipment in highly complex situations while fostering
communication across departments. Prior positions include event planner
for an international financial firm, assistant legislative aide and
researcher in the U.S. House of Representatives and video production
manager in the television industry.
In addition to being a
dynamic, dedicated presence in the Department of Music, Ms. Kerst is
committed to her community. She lives near campus with her family, and
has worked with numerous local businesses on event-planning and
administrative issues. Ms. Kerst currently serves as president of the
board of Willa Road Children’s Center in Newark, where in 2007 she
directed the launch of a nonprofit child care center serving families in
the Newark area. ​
